Asa Hope, Owner and Designer of Hollywood’s own~ Hopeless Designs

Actress, producer, FIDM student and all-around entrepreneur, Asa Hope recently launched her flagship fashion brand, Hopeless Designs. Her passion to live creatively is the main inspiration behind the line, which is comprised of one-of-a-kind fashion accessories. She is most well known for her roles in 2001 Maniacs, Dara Ju and Field of Screams~as well as modeling and being an all around girl with a great fashion sense and eye for design.

The Los Angeles based designer makes her debut in fashion after five years working in the entertainment and modeling industries. Drawing from her time at the Los Angeles Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Hope brings many fresh ideas and designs to a brand that she began planning years ago. “Hopeless Designs is something I’ve always wanted to do; I grew up wanting to have my own clothing and accessories line. I have been making shirts, headbands, and jewelry for myself and my friends since high school, and thought, ‘why not make my designs to share them?’” Hope said.

So much talent AND beauty

So much talent AND beauty

Hopeless Designs’ original headbands, rings and necklaces are handmade by Hope. Designs are never repeated to ensure that each Hopeless Design is unique. The signature headbands are created with colorful, high-end, elastic circlets each finished with three vintage buttons of assorted styles. The headbands are also sold in Minis-thinner styles with a single button instead of three. The Minis can be worn together for a mix-and-match approach to accessorizing, or separately, for a care-free, quick, but still polished appearance.

In addition to the headbands, Hope showcases the vintage buttons in her handmade ring collection. The rings are one-size-fits-all, as they may be adjusted for comfortable wear.  The necklace collection deviates from the button design. Each necklace is created from single, or sets of, distinctive charms, which still flaunt a vintage, care-free feel.

Hope’s use of recycled materials is purposeful, as she sets out to build a brand based on earth-friendly decisions with eco-conscious business practices. She discovers materials when antiquing in Los Angeles; her expertise in vintage shopping was developed by her mother. The designer also regularly peruses vintage sales on sites like EBay and Etsy. “By reusing materials, I am not only creating eclectic, one-of-a-kind products, but also cutting down on the amount of manufacturing and waste necessary to create new molds and generic looks,” the designer noted. “I love the “Go Green” movement and am happy to be able to incorporate that into my product design.”
